Connecting Women to Trades program at Volvo Trucks

Imagine the excitement of visiting Volvo Trucks to explore the career pathways available in the Heavy Vehicles sector. Well, that’s exactly what the participants of our latest Connecting Women to Trades Program in NSW got to experience!
In collaboration with YES Youth Employment Services, they had the incredible opportunity to attend a workshop at Volvo Blacktown. There, they heard firsthand from a female Apprentice about what it’s like to work in the industry.
Not only did participants learn about Apprenticeships in Heavy Vehicle Mechanics, but they also discovered other administrative and higher-level roles as potential career paths.
Volvo even treated them to a delicious lunch and invited them to check out their newest trucks. It was an unforgettable experience!
During the program, participants also had the chance to meet with Training Services NSW to learn more about Apprenticeship options within the NSW Government. They’ll soon be invited for interviews in the coming weeks.
The program also welcomed Richards Crookes Construction, who shared valuable insights about career opportunities within their West Sydney team.
And, as a special touch, our long-standing partner Dress for Success NWS/ACT spent time with the women, discussing personal presentation and providing them with interview outfits.
Once again, our NSW team successfully delivered a program that enhanced these women’s job readiness and equipped them with valuable information about the trades industry. We want them to feel confident in choosing a career that aligns with their goals and dreams.
