What you see in this image are the most segregated occupations in the Australian job market.
On your left are jobs dominated by women. On the opposite side are those where men predominate, and it’s been the case for the last 30 years.
Women aren’t only missing out on the opportunity to work in these fast-growing industries like Construction and Technology, but they’re also being penalised by other social issues:
 They see their earnings reduce when they become mothers;
 They still have to take periods of leave to look after their children;
 Migrant women sit as the second applicant on their partnered skilled visas.
“The skills or occupations of secondary applicants are not assessed, placing men in a likelier position to increase employee participation in male-dominated fields,” said SBS.
